Up for sale is beautiful American Hampden pocket watch, nickel open face case with swing out movement, 17 jewels lever escapement, comes with original elegant hands, watch is in running condition but accuracy not timed, the case seems to be a re-case but quite a good match with the movement except for the front bezel may be too big so the red minute scale are partially shown, a SOLD-AS-IS item! DESCRIPTION:

Year : Circa 1902

Size : 58mm, excluding stem.

Case : Plain polish nickel open face case with hinged swing out movement tray, screw in front bezel and all are working fine, case closure shut tightly. The case seems to be a re-case but quite a good match with the movement except for the front bezel may be too big so the red minute scale can partially shown, Inner signed "TRADE MARK 84925".

Crystal : Glass - seems NOT original and was glued to the bezel.

Dial : White enamel dial with few hairline, cracks and chips, dirty with stains. Beautiful and elegant original blue steel hands set. Black Arabic numerals with outer minutes scale and subsidiary seconds dial.

Movement : Pendant wind and lever set, 18s Hampden model 4 movement, beautifully damascened full plate nickel lever escapement with 17 jewels(screw set), adjusted, star regulator, compensation balance with blue steel hairspring, balance staff is OK, running condition but accuracy not timed, signed "HAMPDEN WATCH CO 17 JEWELS. CANTON, OHIO. 1720071 ADJUSTED SAFETY PINION", few dirt, scratches and stains.

Overall a descent pocket watch and believe that it will be a stunning great and beautiful gem after replacement of a suitable case and glass crystals.
