1970-1979 | MIDO | MULTI STAR
Up for sale is beautiful vintage Swiss Mido Multi Star, stainless steel case and bracelet(NOT original), watch is in running condition and still keep good time, about 20-40 seconds loss after running for 24 hours, it has been store in my cabinet and was not serviced for 30 years, so it may need minor adjustment and a complete overhaul is recommended, a SOLD-AS-IS item! Size : 38mm x 36mm, excluding crown & lugs.
Functions : Time, quick set day/date, centre seconds.
Case : Stainless steel case comes with original Mido crown, case back marked "Mido STAINLESS STEEL 7162372 1229", dirty with stains and wear, numerous scratches.
Band/Strap : NOT ORIGINAL - Alba stainless steel bracelet, normal wear & numerous scratches.
Crystal : Plastic, numerous scratches on surface.
Dial : Metallic light grey dial, baton index with outer minute division, aperture for day date function, raised Mido logo and star , blue lettering marked "AUTOMATIC MULTI STAR SWISS MADE, THE LETTER "STA"IS FADED, very dirt with lot of stains.
Movement : 17 Jewels automatic movement, balance is running strong, day date function works fine, signed "SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS SWISS Mido". All function works fine but NOT smooth for hand winding and setting hands - When winding the crown in the first position it will easily screw down to lock position so you has to turn the crown clockwise & anticlockwise for several times to make the winding. And it’s quite hard to set to the 3rd position(setting hand) and you has to pull the the crown back & forth 2-3 times to make it in position., few dirt with stains/scuff marks.
Accuracy: Roughly loss 20-40 seconds after running for 12 hours.
Service: NOT service/oiling for over 30 years.
Overall a beautiful vintage Mido wristwatch, believe that it will be a stunning great and beautiful gem after cleaning/adjustment and replacement of crystal.
